The Norwich Police Department is currently investigating a motor vehicle accident located at 665 West Thames Street, Norwich, CT. At 1:34 AM Norwich Police Department received several 911 calls of a dark colored SUV ramming several parked cars in the parking lot of Evil Olive located on West Thames Street. The vehicle then fled the area towards Mohegan Sun on West Thames Street and veered off the roadway colliding into the second story of the 665 West Thames Street. East Great Plains Fire Department, Norwich Fire Department, Norwich Public Utilities and the City Building Inspector where alsodispatched to the scene. The occupants of the residence were able to escape the residence without injury.
The operator of the vehicle was later identified as William Lassiter of Willimantic, CT. Lassiter was later transported to Backus Hospital where he was admitted and later released with non-life threatening injuries. Lassiter was later held on an outstanding warrant out Willimantic and held on $75,000 court set bond. The case is actively being investigated at this time.
