On Sunday, a a Norwich man, 71 year old Harry Viera drove through the front of Vocatura’s Bakery on Boswell Ave in Norwich. Thankfully no one inside the bakery or the driver were injured in the crash.
According to the Norwich Fire Department, Viera, was able to get out of the Jeep before first responders arrived on scene but was taken away in a police cruiser where he was later charged with driving under the influence or alcohol and or drugs. Norwich Fire department stated that Viera drove through a concrete wall, a center support, and then the glass at the front of the building.
According to the New London Day, the bakery was evacuated until the jeep could be removed. Vocatura’s will remain closed until the building is repaired and then inspected by Uncas Health District. The crash remains under investigation with Norwich Police
