**UPDATED*** Plainfield Police Investigating Untimely Death of Moosup Resident

On June 12, 2022 at approximately 2:02 a.m. Quinebaug Valley Communications Center contacted the Plainfield Police Department requesting they respond to 138 Ward Avenue in the Moosup section of Plainfield, Connecticut for a reported unconscious male. 

 

Upon arrival American Legion Ambulance and Moosup Fire Department were on scene providing care to the male who was identified as, Michael Roberts, 56, of Moosup. Roberts, was subsequently transported to Backus Emergency Care Center where he was pronounced deceased. 

 

Through investigation Officers determined that the reporting parties had exited their residence and discovered a Ford F150 at the end of the driveway with its headlights on. Upon approach they observed Roberts to be unresponsive and severely injured on the ground. Emergency medical services were contacted immediately, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was started. Immediately upon arrival of emergency services Roberts was transported from the scene for further treatment. 

 

An autopsy was performed on Roberts on June 12, 2022 at the State of Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington, Connecticut. The cause of death was a blunt impact injury to the torso. Then manner of death was certified as an accident.

Based on the totality of the investigation, it is believed that Roberts had exited his vehicle in the driveway of the residence which is on an incline. The vehicle, which was not safely in park, began rolling backwards subsequently striking Roberts causing serious physical injuries leading to his death.
