Plainfield Man Threatens to “Murder” an Officer During Arrest

On January 19, 2021 at approximately 5:10 A.M., members of the Plainfield Police Department arrested 23 year old Ryan Schroth,  Moosup, on the power of an arrest warrant.

Schroth was taken into custody at his residence. The arrest warrant was signed based off an investigation that occurred on January 14, 2021 in which the members of the Plainfield Police Department responded to Schroth’s residence for a domestic disturbance between a male and a female.

On January 14, 2021, Officers arrived on scene and found Schroth to be highly intoxicated and uncooperative. Schroth was not forthcoming with information and at the time of the incident a child was present. Investigation revealed Schroth to be in possession of a loaded firearm prior to police arrival. Police were unable to conduct an on-scene arrest due to Schroth being transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Prior to being transported Schroth remained uncooperative towards Officers and Emergency Medical Services and at one point threatened to “Murder” an Officer.

Schroth was charged with Risk of Injury to a Minor, Possession of a Firearm while Intoxicated, Disorderly Conduct, Threatening 2nd Degree and Possession of Less 1/2 Oz. Marijuana.

Schroth is being held on a $50,000.00 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned at the State of Connecticut Superior Court in Danielson, Connecticut on January 19, 2021.
