National Cinema Chain Announces That the Show Is Over

Some area movie theaters are closing for good, mainly due to the revenue losses due to Covid 19.

Regal Cinemas, a company that operates movie theaters all over the United States is shutting down. Regal does have some theaters in Eastern Connecticut including locations in Waterford, Branford, and Stonington.
Regal’s parent company, Cineworld, said in a statement, all 536 U.S. cinemas as well as 127 units in the UK will all be shutting down as soon as October 8, 2020. Cineworld made the statement on Monday.

Cineworld is the 2nd largest cinema chain in the world. The largest chain of movie theaters, AMC, has announced that they have no plans to close amid the pandemic.  AMC operates the theater in Lisbon at Lisbon Landing.
