Man Gets Hit By Train in Norwich

At approximately 8:00 p.m. on September 23rd, the Norwich Police Department Patrol Division along with members of the Norwich Fire Department, East Great Plains Fire Department,  Connecticut State Police, Mohegan Tribal Fire Department and the Mohegan Tribal Police Department responded to the area of Trading Cove Drive and Lucas Park Road in Norwich, for a report of a subject being struck by a train. Responders learned a male subject was struck by a  New England Central Railroad train as it was crossing the trestle bridge that spans the Trading Cove, near the Norwich Uncasville border.  The male was quickly located near the trestle.  Responders utilized boats from area fire departments to bring the subject to land, where an ambulance was waiting. He was then transported to the William W. Backus Hospital to receive treatment for his serious injuries.
