Lady Wolverine Have Best Game of Year, Snap 6 Game Losing Streak

The Griswold Wolverines took on Windham Tech Thursday night, following a loss the night before to Tourtellotte. Griswold scored the first point of the game when Emma Dembinski made a free throw.  During the first quarter, the Wolverines scored six points due to successful free throws by Dembinski, Dani Krapf, and Hannah Clark, plus a two-pointer from Mandy Brehler.  Windham found themselves with three players in foul trouble after the first quarter. Despite this, the Wolverines trailed behind the Mighty Tigers 13-8.

Griswold continued to make free-throws. Bella Rubino scored four points from the free-throw line. Griswold trailed slightly; 24-21 at halftime. When they came back from the half, the Wolverines took over from that point on. Dani Krapf made a three-pointer to begin the third quarter. She then made another three from the corner. Windham could not keep up with the tempo of Griswold. Dani Krapf made 8 free throws in the third quarter. Four other Wolverines scored in the quarter. Hannah Clark had eight points, Beth Ladd scored six points, Bella Rubino scored four points, and Emma Dembinski scored three points. The Wolverines scored 35 points in the third quarter and jumped out to a 56-35 lead. Griswold had the game in hand to start the fourth quarter. Brooke McCormick scored six points in the fourth. Dani Krapf scored four points and finished the night the team’s leading scorer with 22 points. Griswold snapped their six game losing streak, and beat Windham Tech 72-48. The next game for the Wolverines is Tuesday when they travel to take on St. Bernard’s.
