On February 21, 2022 at approximately 11:42 PM, a 2001 Chevy Monte Carlo was driving on Slater Ave (rt 138), past Griswold Public Schools, to the intersection of 138 and 164. The driver, identified as Alan Frazier of Jewett City, couldn’t navigate the turn onto to route 164 after hitting the curb and sliding the car across the roadway where it struck a light pole.
Frazier stated that he was late for work and suffered a head injury but refused transport to the hospital for evaluation while on scene.
The Monte Carlo had disabling damage and had to be towed from the scene. Frazier was issued an infraction for failure to maintain proper late.
The accident remains under investigation.
