DUI Arrest Made in Ledyard After Driver Flips Car Onto Its Roof

On Sunday February 20, 2022 at 9:29 PM, Ledyard police officers were conducting speed enforcement on Route 117 near Peach Tree Hill Ave. The officer observed a white Kia Soul improperly passing another vehicle traveling north on Route 117. The officer waited for traffic to clear before entering the roadway. The officer then activated his overhead emergency lights to get uninvolved traffic to clear and while doing so, the accused vehicle saw the lights and increased his speed to elude the officer. The accused vehicle then attempted to make a sharp left-hand turn onto Hill Street when the operator, later identified as Lindsey Brown, lost control of the vehicle and struck a fire hydrant, which caused the vehicle to flip on its roof before coming to final rest up against the house at 2 Hill Street. Brown showed signs of impairment and was tested using the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests after which he was subsequently arrested for DUI. He was released on a $1,000.00 non-surety bond and is to appear in New London Superior Court on March 8, 2022.
