Things may start to change once again with the recent surge in COVID-19 infections over the last week in Connecticut, reaching the highest levels in months.
Today’s updated summary shows that positivity rate is up to 5.25% over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Hospitalizations are also up almost 35%, up to 354 patients in the hospital with COVID-19, 40 of which are in New London county. New Haven and Hartford counties are most affected with 102 hospitalizations each as of today. They no longer publish the amount of deaths from the past day/weekend. The state only lists a total amount which is now up to 8,865.
Now, there’s Omicron, the latest variant that was first discovered in Africa.
According to the New York Times in an article, they are quoted as saying… The World Health Organization warned on Monday that the global risk posed by the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus was “very high.” And despite significant questions about the variant’s possible effects, countries around the world rushed to defend against its spread, with a cascade of border closures and travel restrictions that recalled the earliest days of the pandemic.
