On Wednesday, November 17, 2021, EMS Personnel responded to a residence in Griswold for the report of an unresponsive infant. The baby was transported to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford where he was treated for several days.
On Sunday, November 21, 2021, the infant was pronounced dead. Eastern District Major Crime Squad detectives started an investigation which revealed that 35 year old Crystal Czyzewski of Slater Ave in Griswold was responsible for the baby’s death. An arrest warrant was authorized by the New London State’s Attorney’s office and Czyzewski was taken into custody without incident.
Czyzewski is being held on a $500,000 bond after being charged with First Degree Manslaughter and Risk of Injury to a Minor.
