NORWICH, CT: On Wednesday, November 10, 2021 American Ambulance Service, Inc,
will begin accepting applications for their second COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONDER
ACADEMY class. Our first program has been so successful we decided to move forward with
a second one.
At American Ambulance Service, Inc. we believe that a strong foundation is essential for a
successful career in Emergency Medical Services (EMS). With nearly 50 years’ experience
providing EMS to our community, we are here to provide that foundation. “This Academy
provides an opportunity for people to join our family and really make a difference in the lives of
those we interact with every day”, Robert Rautio, American’s Director of Operations said.
The health of our community is the cornerstone of our mission as is our dedication to provide
the highest quality of service and care. We believe that training our own community members
to give back by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to start a career with a
real impact is key to that success.
We also understand the time and effort required to become an Emergency Medical Technician
(EMT) makes it more challenging now than ever before for people to enter the field through the
traditional routes.

American Ambulance is proud to announce we’ve partnered with the largest EMS education
provider in Eastern CT to provide this amazing cooperative educational program. American
Professional Educational Services Director of Education and Training, Damian Rickard, stated
“We are honored to be partnering with American Ambulance in making this program a reality.
We have been training the community in various allied health fields, including EMT, for over 25
years. It is exciting to be able to provide a direct school-to-work program that will directly
benefit our community.”
Each CERA student accepted into the program will complete a rigorous but exciting 7-week
course of study that will prepare them to become an EMT at no cost, all while earning a training
wage during the entire program. Upon successful completion of the Academy, the fully
qualified EMTs will put those newfound skills to work immediately as full-time American
Ambulance EMS team members.
