State Police Detectives Investigate Serious Assault at MacDougall-Walker Correctional

On October 30, 2021, at approximately 7:20 PM, Connecticut State Troopers responded the MacDougal Walker Corrections Institute to investigate an assault from an inmate to another inmate.
After the investigation which included viewing DOC surveillance footage, it was determined that 30 year old inmate, Levarr Frasier, used a homemade weapon to stab another inmate, 66 year old Christian Kovaciny multiple times in the head, neck, and back. Kovaciny sustained serious injuries and taken to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Kovaciny is expected to survive the attack according to State Police reports.

Due to the seriousness of the attack, the case has been assigned to the Central District Major Crime Squad for further investigation.

Kovaciny was sentenced to 15 years back in 2017 for First Degree Sexual Assault with children.

Frasier was sentenced to 40 years in 2013 for Manslaughter.
