On Wednesday, November 18, 2020, many residents of Jewett City, Griswold, and other area towns received an email seemingly from Father Ted Tumicki, Pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church on North Main St.
The email states that Father Tumicki is traveling and can’t get to a store to purchase a gift card for his niece. THIS IS A SCAM. According to Cindy at the parish office today, she told SNSN Internet Radio that it was a scam and do not follow through with any direction on that email.
Below is the email that was sent. If you received it, just delete it.
I need an urgent favor. I’m suppose to get an iTunes apple gift card OR ebay gift card for my niece, Its her birthday but I can’t do this now because I’m currently traveling and I tried purchasing online but unfortunately no luck with that. Can you get it from any store around you? I’ll pay back as soon as I am back. Kindly let me know if you can handle this so I can tell you how much.
