Superintendent Sean McKenna sent out a communication today to parents stating that there will be another week of distance learning for the week of January 19, 2021.
At the beginning of 2021, students returned after the holiday break to the hybrid model on January 4th. Just 2 a couple of days into the hybrid model, it was announced that GHS was going to go full remote, yet the rest of the campus including the middle and elementary schools would remain on hybrid. The very next day, McKenna announced that the entire campus was going to full remote. The target date to return to school via the hybrid model was to be January 19, 2021, after the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. One of the items that McKenna mentioned in that communication was the 19th was a “target” date for return and would reach out to all parents this week.
This week is here, and there will another week added onto full remote learning. Why is this one additionally rough for kids and parents? The CIAC announced today that they have approved the start of a winter sports season for Connecticut High Schools but with the additional week of distance learning, GHS will not be able to participate until the following week at the earliest.
