The Griswold Wolverines wrestling team competed in the CIAC Open championships in New Haven. The team is young and gained valuable experience throughout the season. Griswold had only three competitors in the tournament: Seniors, Jason Jacaruso, and Vashil Patel, and Freshman, Tyler Arsenault.

Tyler Arsenault went 0 and 2, but gained great experience for future years. Vashil Patel was 1 and 2, defeating AJ Sachetello of Waterford, and wrestling the eventual champion. Senior, Jason Jacaruso finished eighth in his weight class. He lost to East Lyme’s Everett Minevich in a 6-5 triple overtime match. Minevich finished fourth in the tournament, and qualified for the New England Tournament next week.

Congratulations to the Wrestling team on a great season!
