Griswold, CT (Nov. 12, 2021) — Eastern Connecticut Performing Arts Association (ECPAA) recently announced that registration for their second annual Holiday Home Decorating Contest in Griswold and Jewett City, Connecticut, opened November 1, 2021. The contest is to benefit St. Mary’s Food Pantry, and is sponsored by 2020 winner Pat Camputaro of American Industries Inc. Registration is free and will be available from November 1 to December 5 at https://www.ecpaa.org/holiday-home-decorating-contest
Houses will be judged on the curb appeal of exterior decorations in five categories: Biggest “Wow” Factor, Most Unique Design, Best use of White Lights, Best use of Animation and/or Audio Special FX, and Notable Holiday Theme.
The contest is also to support St. Mary’s Food Pantry. Members of the ECPAA board and volunteers plan to collect donations for the food pantry at the 2021 Snowflake & Night Light Reverse Parade, which is tentatively scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 4, 2021, from 6-9 p.m. at Hopeville Campground. Additionally, food donations are accepted at St. Mary’s Rectory at 34 North Main Street in Jewett City. In early December, a map of registered houses will be distributed on ECPAA’s website, and the community will be encouraged to view the houses and vote for the winners. Voting will be open from December 6-12, and 5 winners and honorable mentions will be announced on December 15. Each winner will receive a $50 cash prize, a gift certificate to an upcoming ECPAA program, and a lawn sign to showcase their win.
“The Holiday Home Decorating Contest was a safe and fun way to spread the word about the Arts Association’s mission during COVID-19,” said ECPAA President Raymond Churchill. “With over 50 registrants in 2020, and a great deal of food collected for the St. Mary’s Food Pantry in Jewett City, it was important to bring this event back for its second year.”
