Boys Soccer State Tournament to Start Next Week, Griswold Earns #4 Seed

The 2021 boys soccer state championship playoff brackets are up on the CIAC Tournament Central website.  Griswold draws a #4 seed in class “S” play and will receive a 1st round bye and will not play on Tuesday, but will play the winner of #20 Immaculate and #13 Montville.  Griswold is all to familiar with Montville this year, splitting the season series.  Griswold won the first contest 2-1 on OT and lost on Thursday, 1-0.

Griswold is going into the state tournament with a 13-3-1 record, the best in over a decade, with a team that is led by 8 seniors including standouts Jacob Blanchard, Aiden Christie, and Ryan Fasula.

Other area schools that have made the tournament in Class “S” are #3 Parish Hill, #7 St. Bernards, and #22 Wheeler.  Lyman Memorial, Plainfield, Tourtellotte, and Putnam were not eligible.

Area Class “M” schools that will be represented are #3 Stonington, #8 Ledyard, #11 Bacon Academy, and Killingly just making it in as a #31 seed.  Windham is also a Class “M” school, and did not make the tournament after posting a 2-14 record.

In Class L, Ellis Tech is the #1 seed after going 13-1-2 in the regular season.  Woodstock Academy gets a #28 seed, and New London is the #7 seed.
