3 Car Accident Sends 2 to the Hospital


On December 8, 2021 at approximately 7:24 A.M., members of the Plainfield Police Department responded to a three car motor vehicle crash with injuries in front of the Plainfield High School located at 105 Putnam Road, Plainfield, CT. Central Village Fire Department, American Legion Ambulance and Mortlake A
mbulance also responded to the scene.

Upon arriving on scene an investigation was conducted which revealed a Jeep being operated by Cynthia Steenson, 54, of Rhode Island was traveling northbound on Putnam Road when it rear ended a Mini Cooper being operated by Lydia Mackela, 29, of Plainfield. This caused Mackela’s Mini Cooper to collide with the rear of a Dodge Grand Caravan being operated by Phillip Davenport, 35, of Plainfield which had a juvenile passenger.

Both Mackela and Steenson were transported to Backus Hospital in Norwich, CT for treatment of reported injuries. Steenson was cited for Following too Closely.
